Thapelo ‘Taps’ Sebetlela


Biography of Thapelo Sebetlela, also known as Taps. 


Born in the vibrant village of Molepolole, ‘Taps’ as we fondly call him, is a bubbly safari guide, with significant knowledgeable on a lot of topics.

From a young age, he was fascinated by flora and fauna and during school recess he spent his time at the cattle post, looking after livestock. During this time, he mastered the art of tracking cattle and goats, little did he know, that his love for livestock that would later bring food to the table in later years.

Taps has worked for Seba Camp and Abu Camp, and has amassed vast knowledge in elephants and their behaviour. He has amazing stories to tell guests about his encounters with these gentle giants. Taps also holds a level two Guiding Qualification and a level three qualification in Walking Training.

For Taps, the Delta is his great love and he enjoys guiding on the gentle and serene water ways. After many experiences in the Kalahari and the Delta, Taps joined Xigera Safari Lodge as a Guide in 2020.
